Ignite School has been buzzing with excitement for the last two weeks. Students and staff have been anxiously preparing for UAE Flag Day 2018. Although it is not a holiday in which schools are closed, I can tell it is something big. Our students are not only decorating the school, but they are learning about the meaning, traditions and history behind Flag Day. I always tell my students that I am a learner just like them…and I challenge them to ‘teach me something I didn’t know”. They were very eager to teach me about the UAE Rulers and the meaning of the colors on the flag. Teachers cleverly integrated Flag day into their lessons…such as using flags and flag stripes to create mathematical equations. There is no greater sight, than seeing children excited about learning…and I’m seeing it all over this school.
