Press Release – Grand Opening

Ignite School, a new American Curriculum School in Dubai celebrated its official opening on Monday 25th February with a grand inaugural event at the school. The Grand Opening marked the completion of our new sports facilities (5 a side Football field, full size basketball court and 25-meter swimming pool). The theme of the event was “Respecting Cultural Diversity” in alignment with the designation of 2019 as the Year of Tolerance. Guests were seated on our beautiful new football field, on a beautiful day, with beautiful weather. The Ignite School students opened the special assembly by singing the UAE National Anthem. Our 5th grade student Ahmed Bintouq opened the program with a speech about the student’s excitement for our school and our school’s commitment to diversity. Next, the Founding Director, Veronica L Griffin greeted the crowd with anecdotes about the similarities between the diversity in the US and the UAE, from the perspective of the predominantly American teaching staff. The final speech of the event came from the guest of Honor. Dr. Abdulla Karam shared his words of wisdom regarding the importance of well-being for all.   The program concluded with performances by our KG2, 1st and 2nd grade students. To commemorate this event, we concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony, photos of all the VIPs involved in the launch of the school and the reveal of the school’s Inaugural Plaque.

The culmination of the opening was a morning of fun for our students and families which included an innovation station, Henna painting, glass etching/calligraphy, a sustainability station, face painting, basketball and games. Students and guests enjoyed light refreshments with healthy fruit options, and a delicious cake donated by our wonderful parents.

Ignite School would like to thank Dr. Abdullah Karam for his commitment to the students of Dubai. Before his departure, Dr Karam was escorted on a brief tour of our amazing facilities by our student ambassadors, Judie and Leen Alhafez. The tour included the Elementary School’s Science Lab, Black Box Theater and Art Studio. We feel honored for Dr. Karam’s presence and support at our inaugural Grand Opening. Ignite School opened its doors on 9th September 2018, and currently has 120 students enrolled. Seats for the 2019-2020 academic year are limited and filling fast.
