Inclusive Education at Ignite

Every Child Belongs. Every Learner Succeeds.

At Ignite School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe every child has the right to learn, participate, and thrive in a welcoming environment where individual strengths are recognised, diversity is celebrated, and every learner is empowered to achieve their full potential.

Aligned with the Dubai Inclusive Education Policy Framework, we provide personalised support for Students of Determination, students with additional learning needs, English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, and Gifted and Talented students through collaborative, student-centered practices.

With over 9% of our student population identified as Students of Determination, Ignite School has a well-established and experienced Inclusion Department dedicated to meeting a diverse range of learning needs. We are committed to ensuring that every student has equitable access to learning through personalised provision, appropriate accommodations, targeted interventions, and meaningful participation in every aspect of school life.

Our Inclusive Education Approach

At Ignite School, inclusion is a shared responsibility. Our Inclusion Team works collaboratively with classroom teachers, Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), families, school leaders, and external specialists to ensure every learner receives the support they need while remaining an active and valued member of the school community.

Our graduated model of support provides timely, personalised interventions that promote academic achievement, wellbeing, confidence, and independence.

Push-In Support

Our preferred model of support is push-in intervention, where Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) work alongside classroom teachers within mainstream classrooms.

This approach enables students to:

  • Access learning alongside their peers
  • Receive timely support during lessons
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Strengthen social interaction and participation
  • Apply learning strategies within the classroom environment

LSAs work closely with teachers to reinforce learning, provide appropriate accommodations, and encourage students to become confident, independent learners.

Targeted Pull-Out Interventions

Where additional support is required, students may access short-term, targeted pull-out interventions delivered by our SEN Teacher and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs).

Interventions are personalised according to individual needs and may focus on:

  • Literacy and phonics
  • Reading and writing
  • Numeracy
  • Speech and language development
  • Executive functioning
  • Social communication
  • Emotional regulation
  • Fine motor development
  • Study and organisational skills

These sessions complement classroom learning and are regularly reviewed to ensure positive outcomes and sustained progress.

Individual Education Plans (IEPs)

Students requiring additional support have an Individual Education Plan (IEP) developed in partnership with families.

Each IEP includes:

  • Personalised learning goals
  • Classroom accommodations
  • Targeted interventions
  • Progress monitoring
  • Regular review meetings

This collaborative approach ensures that support remains responsive to each student’s strengths and evolving needs.

Early Identification and Specialist Support

Early identification is central to our inclusive practice. Through classroom observations, assessments, parent collaboration, and specialist recommendations, we identify learning needs promptly and provide timely support.

Where appropriate, we work alongside Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other professionals to ensure coordinated, holistic provision.

Supporting Every Learner

Our Inclusion Department also provides specialised support for:

  • English as an Additional Language (EAL): Small-group language instruction and personalised programmes that develop English proficiency while enabling students to access the curriculum confidently.
  • Gifted and Talented Students: Enrichment opportunities, curriculum extension, leadership experiences, and challenging learning pathways that nurture exceptional potential.

Best Practices at Ignite School

Our inclusive practices are guided by international research and the belief that every learner can succeed.

Family Partnership

Families are at the centre of every student’s learning journey. We value open communication, shared decision-making, regular review meetings, and collaborative goal setting to ensure the best outcomes for every learner.

Personalised Provision

Every student receives support tailored to their strengths, needs, and aspirations through individual planning, appropriate accommodations, and targeted interventions.

Graduated Model of Support

Students access the right level of support through classroom accommodations, push-in interventions, and targeted pull-out sessions delivered by our SEN Teacher and LSAs.

Collaborative Practice

Teachers, LSAs, the Inclusion Team, families, and external specialists work together to provide consistent, coordinated, and student-centred support.

Evidence-Informed Interventions

Student progress is monitored regularly, with interventions adapted using assessment data to ensure meaningful and measurable outcomes.

Promoting Independence

Our goal is to develop confident, resilient learners by fostering independence, self-advocacy, problem-solving skills, and active participation in all aspects of school life.

Continuous Professional Learning

Our educators engage in ongoing professional development in inclusive education, evidence-based intervention strategies, and student wellbeing to ensure the highest quality provision for every learner.

Our Commitment

At Ignite School, inclusion is more than a programme—it is the foundation of our community.

Through strong family partnerships, personalised support, skilled educators, dedicated Learning Support Assistants, and evidence-based interventions, we create a learning environment where every child feels they belong, is supported to succeed, and is empowered to achieve their very best.

Together, we ignite potential by ensuring that every learner is valued, included, and inspired to thrive.
