For adults and children, not much feels better than getting out and exercising. Summer is a great time to start up a regular exercise routine because you have extra time. Bring the family together by starting a shared exercise routine. Consult a physician and get out and exercise this summer as a family. Here are some benefits of exercise.

Take some precautions for safe exercise in the hot summer heat.

  • Consult a doctor before you begin an exercise routine.
  • Take it easy when exercising during the summer months because of the heat.
  • Talking about the heat. Avoid exercising during the hottest part of the day.
  • Wear light-weight clothing that is light-colored.
  • Use sunscreen.
  • Drink plenty of liquids.
  • Don’t drink too much though.
  • Avoid sugary drinks.
  • Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables for the electrolytes.
  • If you feel any of the following, seek medical help immediately.
    • Light headed
    • Dizzy
    • Headaches
    • Cramping
    • Vomiting or nausea
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Not sweating
    • Disorientation
    • Confusion
